For his master’s degree in Karlsruhe, he sang the Officer in Philip Glass’s “In the Penal Colony” in 2021. At the Landestheater Rheinland-Pfalz, he played Harry Frommermann in Wittenbrink’s “Comedian Harmonists”, and at the Konzerthaus Berlin he was the Narrator in Iván Fischer’s children’s opera “Der Grüffelo”.
Further engagements have taken him to the state theatres of Karlsruhe, Mainz, Saarbrücken and Braunschweig, the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, the Thüringer Landestheater Rudolstadt and the theatres of Koblenz and Aschaffenburg. At the Theater in der Bibrastraße in Würzburg, his roles included the title role in Nino Rota’s “La notte di un nevrastenico”, John Styx in Offenbach’s “Orphée aux enfers”, Villotto in Haydn’s “La vera costanza” and Melisso in Handel’s “Alcina”.
His concert appearances include the baritone solo in Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with the Stuttgarter Choristen and the bass solo in Zelenka’s “Missa votiva” in Worms. In 2019 he sang excerpts from “Carmina Burana” at the Berlin Philharmonie. He appeared with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra at the theatre ball in 2023 and in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio for children in 2025.
His repertoire includes Handel’s “Messiah”, Mendelssohn’s “Paulus” and “Elijah”, Fauré’s Requiem and cantatas and masses by Bach, Telemann, Schubert and Mozart. Venues include the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, Stuttgart’s Old Castle, Mainz’s Phönixhalle and Fulda Cathedral. The 2018 Christmas Mass at Würzburg Cathedral was broadcast live on television.
Lukas Eder gives song recitals chiefly with pianists Jens Barnieck and Bastian Hahn. His longstanding partnership with Jens Barnieck has taken him to Bad Kissingen, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Frankfurt and Paris, as well as Schloss Grünsberg near Nuremberg.
Alongside Beethoven’s “An die ferne Geliebte”, Schubert’s “Schwanengesang” and Schumann’s Heine Liederkreis op. 24 and “Dichterliebe”, he explores less frequently performed works by Hans Gál, Friedrich Gernsheim and Karl Haine. His programmes combine familiar song cycles with discoveries beyond the standard repertoire.
